Terms of Service

Welcome to MediaMate. By accessing or using our platform — including the shop management dashboard, buyer storefronts, The Hub, and The Crate community — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

MediaMate is operated by Kiwi Code NZ, based in New Zealand.

1. The Platform

MediaMate provides a platform for physical media shops and collectors to list, browse and enquire about stock. We are a technology intermediary — we connect buyers with sellers and provide tools for shop management. We are not a party to any transaction between buyers and sellers.

2. Shop Owner Accounts

Shop owners may create an account to manage their inventory and storefront. By creating a shop account you agree that:

• All information you provide — shop name, contact details, item listings — is accurate and up to date
• You are responsible for the accuracy of all stock listings, prices, postage costs and descriptions
• You will remove items from your storefront promptly once they are sold
• You are responsible for all communications with buyers via the platform
• You will not list items that are illegal to sell in New Zealand

3. Subscriptions and Billing

Shop accounts are billed at $24.99 NZD per month following a 14-day free trial. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. By subscribing you authorise recurring monthly billing to your nominated payment method.

• You may cancel your subscription at any time via the Manage Subscription portal
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
• No refunds are provided for partial billing periods
• We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice

4. Buyer Accounts and Collector Community

Buyer and collector accounts are free. By creating a community account you agree to:

• Provide accurate information about yourself
• Use the platform respectfully and in good faith
• Not post false, misleading or offensive content in the community feed
• Not impersonate other users or shops

5. Collector-to-Collector Transactions

By listing an item for sale or trade in The Crate marketplace, or by making an offer on another collector's listing, you expressly acknowledge and agree that:

• All payment, shipping and handover arrangements are made directly between the buyer and seller
• MediaMate accepts no responsibility for items not received, items not as described, payment disputes, fraud, or any loss arising from collector-to-collector transactions
• MediaMate is not liable for the conduct of any user on the platform
• You transact at your own risk and are solely responsible for any issues that arise
• We strongly recommend meeting in a safe public place for in-person exchanges
• We strongly recommend using a secure payment method with buyer protection for online transactions

MediaMate may remove listings or suspend accounts that receive complaints, but is under no obligation to investigate or resolve disputes between collectors.

6. Shop-to-Buyer Transactions

MediaMate facilitates communication between buyers and shop owners via enquiry forms, want lists and sell/trade submissions. We are not a party to any sale or trade between a shop and a buyer. All terms of sale — price, condition, postage, returns — are agreed directly between the shop and the buyer. Where a shop has listed a postage price against an item, that price is set and controlled entirely by the shop owner; MediaMate does not verify, collect or process postage charges on any shop's behalf.

7. Reviews and Ratings

Buyers may leave a star rating and written review of a shop, and collectors may leave a rating and review of another collector following a trade in The Crate. By submitting a review you agree that it is honest, based on a genuine interaction, and not false, defamatory or written on behalf of a competitor.

• Shop owners cannot delete, edit, or otherwise remove reviews left about their own shop through the platform. This is by design — a review system only functions as a genuine trust signal if it cannot be altered by the business it concerns.
• Any user may report a review they believe is fake, abusive, or otherwise breaches these Terms. Reported reviews are assessed manually and may be removed at MediaMate's discretion, but MediaMate is under no obligation to remove any review that does not breach these Terms.
• MediaMate is not liable for the content of any review submitted by a user.

8. Follower Communications

Shop owners may collect follower email addresses via their storefront and send email updates to followers using the platform's built-in tools. By using this feature, shop owners agree to:

• Only send updates genuinely relevant to being a follower of that shop — such as new stock or shop announcements
• Not use follower emails for any purpose other than communicating as that shop
• Not attempt to circumvent the unsubscribe mechanism built into every follower email
• Comply with New Zealand's Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007 and any other applicable anti-spam legislation

MediaMate reserves the right to suspend a shop's ability to send follower emails if this feature is misused.

9. Listings and Content

You are responsible for all content you post to MediaMate, including item listings, photos, descriptions and community posts. By posting content you grant MediaMate a non-exclusive licence to display that content on the platform.

We reserve the right to remove any content that:

• Is false, misleading or fraudulent
• Violates any applicable law
• Is offensive, abusive or harmful
• Infringes intellectual property rights

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, MediaMate and Kiwi Code NZ shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the platform or any transaction facilitated through it.

Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of MediaMate shall not exceed the amount you paid us in subscription fees in the 3 months preceding the claim.

11. Privacy

Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify shop owners of material changes via email. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
